Contesting Urban Restrictions: The Work of Adam and Julian Correa

September 20-October 12
Exhibition reception: September 27, 5-8pm

Cosponsored by the Roberto Hernandez Center and the UW-Milwaukee Latino Student Union

In this joint exhibition, the Correa's seek to portray their collective thoughts and representations of the world through the use of literal and abstract icons, shapes and illustrations. Inspired by the rhythm of urban rules and restrictions, their work explores ways of finding solitude in the city and the boundaries that they confront. Neither the mediums used nor the final results are as important as the process by which the artists suspend their ideas and turn them into visual interpretations. During the transition from mind to canvas, wood, paper or metal, the process has been about using their art, ideas and views on the world as a functional means of documenting personal and social existence.
