Karl Wirsum

March 4th-31th, 2005

In the 1960s, Karl Wirsum was a primary player in the Hairy Who, known more formally as the Chicago Imagists.  The Hairy Who were known best for their funky and cheeky subject matter that reflected the political and social unrest of the time.  Today Wirsum continues to create his whimsically and satirically titled pieces that allude to cartoon classicism.  This exhibition will display Wirsum's art historical journey, ranging from the peculiar parodies of his earlier work to the ingenuous idiosyncrasies he invents today.
