General Information
- Non-refundable event fees are due by the deadline date. If a participant wishes to pay after the deadline date they must first request to talk with the UWM Union Adventure Center Program Coordinator to discuss details of this process. No other Adventure Center employee is to give permission for fees after the deadline date.
- All adventure trip fees include transportation to and from the event as well as any other equipment required for the event (this procedure is outlined in the Adventure Trip Fees section). If the participant is required to bring equipment this will be outlined in the additional information e-mail that they will receive prior to the event date.
- In order to participate in a UWM Union Adventure Center adventure trip the participant MUST be 18 years of age or older (this procedure is outlined in the Waiver Requirements section). You DO NOT have to be affiliated with UWM to participate with the UWM Union Adventure Center on adventure trips.
- Some of the adventure trips that the UWM Union Adventure Center coordinate will overlap typical lunch or dinner times. In these cases the Adventure Center employee will try to stop or have the bus stop on the way to and/or from the event destination for food. However they do recommend bringing snacks along in the case that they are unable to do this. This issue will normally be outlined in the additional e-mail to participants.
- The beginning time on publicity for specific adventure trips is the recommended time to arrive at the UWM Union Adventure Center for check-in (this procedure is outlined in the Adventure Trip Times section).
Additional Information
The UWM Union Adventure Center requires your first and last name, phone number, an emergency contact, and your e-mail address.
They (the UWM Union Adventure Center) require this information so they may contact you if anything concerning the event changes.
They also will ask for your e-mail address. This is a required piece of information because 2-4 days prior to the event date the Program Coordinator will send you an information e-mail outlining details about the event. This is very important so you are informed and may dress, bring, or know anything related to your event.
Reimbursements
Each adventure trip (which is stated on all publicity) requires the participant to pay a portion of the event fee by a specific date. These deposits and full event fees are ALWAYS non-refundable. Sometimes an event deadline will be extended; in this case the Program Coordinator will be sure to inform you of the extension through a mass e-mail.
The following ways are the only situations in which you are eligible to receive a reimbursement from the UWM Union Adventure Center for an adventure trip:
- The UWM Union Adventure Center cancels the event. Either due to weather (which is the most common reason) or due to other technical difficulties.
- If you have injured yourself prior to the event that prevents you to participate in the adventure trip.
- this requires proof of injury or sickness (i.e. doctor's note)
Waiver Requirements
For every adventure trip we require that you sign a legally binding waiver form. This waives your right to place blame on the UWM Union Adventure Center and UWM for any injury or negative consequence of the specific adventure trip.
Some adventure trips are more attractive to participants with younger children therefore young children and minors may be allowed on certain pre-approved trips with the permission of the UWM Union Adventure Center Program Coordinator and the UWM Union Program Manager. The criteria in gaining permission to attend these events with minors or young children are as follows:
- Is the adventure trip appropriate for the age of the minor?
- Is a legal guardian attending the adventure trip as well?
If the answer to these questions are satisfactory to both the Program Coordinator and the Program Manager then special permission may be given to the participant.
Adventure Trip Fees
The remaining balance is due between the day that they paid the deposit and the day of the adventure trip. They may pay the remaining balance the morning or afternoon prior to the trip.
All of your fees to the UWM Union Adventure Center for adventure trips include transportation (school bus, van, or BOSS) to and from the event for each participant.
Adventure Trip Times
All adventure trips meet at the UWM Union Adventure Center. The transportation always leaves the UWM Union and will return to the UWM Union at the end of the duration of the event time. All participants are REQUIRED to take the transportation that will be provided to them by the UWM Union Adventure Center.
The times on the Adventure Center publicity for each specific adventure trip reflects the time of the activity as well as travel time to and from the event destination. They require a check-in grace period of 20 minutes.
Participants must be punctual. It is up to the participant to arrive on time- if you are late your non-refundable deposit will NOT be refunded (reimbursement information is outlined in the Reimbursements section).
