Welcome to Regeneration:
BUILDING A MORE PERFECT STUDENT UNION
On Display before you is a conceptual planning tool that is being used to develop an understanding of the priorities and relationships between elements of the UWM Student Union.
To date, preliminary renovation concepts have been developed through a series of open planning workshops with UWM students, Union staff, Student Association, the Union Policy Board and UWM faculty and staff.
In April 2011, Workshop Architects led our first workshop where participants toured the building and articulated which elements of the UWM student Union were important and where deficiencies existed. Workshop Architects returned in October 2011 to explore priorities and relationships of building elements that will used to develop the concept for the redesign of the UWM Student Union. In addition to October's workshop, participants toured the newly constructed UW Madison's Union South which was designed by Workshop Architects.
We encourage you to discover the possibilities of a future Student Union on your own by rearranging the priorities and relationships puzzle in a way you find to be the most logical and leave any comments, suggestions, and reflections you have.
Later this month, we invite you to attend the next open planning workshop again led by Workshop Architects, in which they will present concepts for the proposed renovation and expansion of the UWM Student Union. This workshop will take place Thursday, November 17 from 4pm-7pm in the Union Ballroom East. We encourage you to attend this important meeting; and please take a workshop flyer from this board as a reminder.
Thank you for your support in
