Job Description: Art Gallery Assistant

Job Qualifications:

Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel are needed (Adobe programs and Dreamweaver knowledge a plus). Must have precise attention to detail and good organizational skills. Needs ability to follow-through, be highly relaiable, and have good written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision. A minimum commitment of 2 consecutive semesters in the regular school year is requried (summer availability a plus).

Essential Duties:

Responsible for all Gallery procedures. Arrange installation of exhibits as well as receiving and returning art work. Manage sales gallery. Perform general gallery guard and reception duties. Additional support and projects as assigned and needed.

Additional Duties:

Develop, promote and maintain exhibitions, sales gallery and events programmed in the Gallery. Assist artists, events coordinators, Union Programming, etc., in implementing programs in the Gallery. Responsible for the limited physical maintenance of the Gallery and office areas. Other duties as required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate orally both in person and via the telephone; high degree of manual dexterity; some heavy lifting and low ladder (under 6') required during exhibit installation.
