The Center offers educational workshops and training seminars for classes, campus agencies, and departments about LGBT+ lives and issues. We design programs specifically for target audiences and may include students who talk about their own experiences. We currently have two programs that make up our Education & Training curriculum - My Voice and Safe Space.

My Voice Speakers' Bureau
Speakers are available for events and meetings both on and off campus. Contact us with your topic and we will arrange for speakers from the university community.
The safe space program, Sponsored in part by BMO Harris, enlists allies from UWM faculty and staff to identify themselves and their space as a "Safe Space". "Safe Space" is identified by a 7" by 5" card that says UWM Safe Space on top, with a group of people surrounding a pride triangle below the text. Students and other university members can feel free to be themselves and talk about LGBT+ topics when in a "Safe Space." Please call the center or email firstname.lastname@example.org to become a safe space participant.
The LGBT Resource Center works best when you work with it. Help out by staffing the center as a Peer Outreach Coordinator, answering phones, managing the lending library, and distributing flyers. Start a social networking group. Be a mentor, speaker, and/or participate in a panel discussion. Plan and staff events. Work on email updates and publicity flyers with your desktop publishing and graphic design skills. Join a community or national group. Engage in political advocacy with LGBT-friendly student organizations such as Students for a Fair WI. However you want to get involved the LGBT Resource Center is here to guide, support and advocate for you!

The LGBT Resource Library has nearly 1000 books, magazines, videos and other materials written for and about LGBT+ people and topics. Students, faculty, and staff may check books out using their UWM identification. We are deeply greatful for the generous donations that make up our library and are always accepting new materials.
Groups are sponsored fully or in part by the LGBT Resource Center. Call to join or if you would like to start your own group. Groups include "Coming Out Support Group", "LGBT Students of Color" "Transgender Students and their Allies."
