(Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin, USA, 113min, 35mm, 2011)
A stirring, finely c rafted human-interest story about underprivileged lives touched by the rewar ds of shared experience. Set in the inner city of Memphis, Undefeated chron icles the Manassas Tigers' 2009 football season, on and off the field, as they strive to win the first playoff game in the high school's 110-year hist ory. Everything changes in the spring of 2004 when Bill Courtney, a former high school football coach turned lumber salesman, volunteers to lend a han d. While Undefeated travels well-tilled inspirational ground, it's also an irresistible story of football, faith and the lust for happily-ever-after, black-and-white endings.
